Another great concert

Just got back from a concert at the University with the Athena Consort and the Black Bear Mens Chorus. The first is an all woman group and the second is, as the title says, all men. Toby has been singing in this group for about 4 years and they are great. There is something about 50 men singing rousing 4 part harmonies that really makes a crowd happy. The last couple of years they have closed each concert with a medley of University of Maine songs ending with the Stein Song which gets most of the crowd on their feet clapping and singing along. It's very moving. The women are good too, but sing more sedate tunes - no good drinking songs that get the blood pumping.

This weekend I saw three family members. I helped decorate the museum for Christmas, and Uncle Kenny was there working on a carpentry project. It was nice to see him, but we didn't get much chance to talk. Today I stopped into Talbots in Bangor to see Sheila. I ended up making a purchase and we chatted while she gift wrapped it for me, and she put it in a bag and since there was another women waiting behind me, I said my goodbyes and headed for the door. Something didn't feel right, so I stopped and said "Did I get a receipt or anything?" She looked at the register and realized that I hadn't even paid for what I had bought. We had been talking so much neither of us realized we had forgotten that part of the transaction. The woman waiting didn't seem nearly as amused as we were, but she didn't say anything. After I left there, I went downtown and had a nice visit with Aunt Jeannette. I hadn't been in for quite a while, and she was very happy to see me, and I her. I tried to explain how this blog thing works, but since she doesn't really have any idea how computers work, it was pretty hard. I promised to print some of it to share with her. She had a visit recently from Uncle Chick's daughter Rhonda, and Rhonda then sent her an album with some photos of her visit. She also included a sheet of scanned photos from a trip she made to Maine when we were kids. There were family groups and John was a baby, so what would that be? 1966? There is one of Uncle Archie and his boys, Uncle Frank's family, Uncle Bernie's without Julie, Uncle Kenny's without Jen, and my Mom and Dad. They were all taken at Grammy's house in the living room. I'm going to see if I can make a contact and see if she will send me an electronic copy that I can share with you.

Well, this is way too long and it is way too late. I know there are other things I wanted to tell you, but I've got a busy day ahead of me, so I'd better stop for now. I hope those of you who are reading this will take a minute to say a few words, just so I'll know you are out there. More later.
Betsy

Why do I have such a hard time to figure this computer out?! I spent 15 minutes typing a comment and tried to send it and lost it....could only happen to me. I'm still laughing about talking too much and forgetting to have you pay for your purchase at Talbots. That was too funny but I guess you had to be there to appreciate it. How nice that you were able to visit Aunt Jeannette. I hope to get over and see her within the next few weeks. You mentioned seeing some pictures where John was a baby and were wondering about the date. John was born October 1965 so I would say your guess is correct. Talking about old pictures reminded me of some slides that Terry gave me a few years back. One of my favorites has you, Roger, Gary and Peter sitting at Grammie's kitchen table while Terry and I were standing beside you (we were around 7 or 8). My guess is we were trying to here some juicy information. We always felt that you all were so cool and had so much fun and longed to be a part of it but were too young. We could have stood around for hours (and probably did) just listening to you all talking. Oh, the things you remember...hahaha! I've made a few of those slides into pictures and Ill see if Craig can help me put them on the blog. Ok, now I really have to run... meeting friends in 30 minutes. This only took me another 10 minutes to retype...I love technology!!! I'll try and get Dad to type a few lines. That will be something special. It was great to see you Betsy and I hope everyone is well. Sheila

Well, Sheila I don't want to say that the color of your hair has anything to do with your computer skills, Ha! Couldn't resist. I told you that I was not good at keeping up with these things, however with our recent burst of winter weather, we're all moving rather slow out hea. I've tried to catch up by reading all the posts, I'm still not sure how this whole thing works, but don't tell Sheila:) I'm guessing that Mike is actually Michael Phillip Patrick of Toronto, ON aay? What's he doing in college, isn't he 15 or something:)?? Just kidding Mike, I've never heard you called Mike before - in fact, if I've got the wrong Mike, I'm going to go and dye my hair blonde. Thank you for the congrats on the STL Cardinals. We are fans, but very casual anymore. Our kids have pretty much taken over our leisure time of watching too many ball games, with the exception of college basketball which we watch a lot of this time of year. I've got to go, but can't wait to talk about "the porch".

Hi Family,
Just a quick note to make sure you all check out "the porch" blog. I wasn't sure if everyone checked the older blogs and you'll all be in for a special treat. Sheila

I'm still trying to figure out this adding an image thing, so please bear with me. I want to see if this will work. If it does
you will see an image of one of the lovely chandeliers in the Gammans room of the Belfast Free Library.

Ok, does anyone out there know how to do this? Our copy of "Blogging for dummies" is out right now and I really need it. :-)
