Welcome Family
Hi Everyone!
This weekend, Gary's son Nick got married and Peter and Franny and families were all here. It was great to see them all. I was talking to Peter about updating the family e-mail address list and we agreed that a blog might be the way to go. I've never done one before and am not sure how well I'll do keeping it updated, but it's worth a try and should be fun. I've been trying to think of something to blog about for awhile.
This weekend also was homecoming at UMaine and I went to the football game in search of Roger and Peter, who I knew were tailgating. Paul had to work at the game, so I was looking for someone to sit with. Well, I didn't ever find them, but Uncle Frank and John came along so I sat with them. It was great. As you can imagine, Frank was pretty serious about the game, especially when Hofstra started scoring, but John and I talked pretty steadily throughout the game - still paying attention to the big plays of course. :-)
Maine won 21-10 (go blue!) and I had a great afternoon. We topped the day off with Aunt Connie's beans (Yum) and an evening of digital slides of Michael's trip to Japan and China, looking at old Sachems and watching Maine Hockey win again. (go blue!) What a great day.
I'm going to post this now and go try to gussie this blog up a bit. I hope you all will enjoy it and we can all share news of our families, photos, thoughts and some memories.

Thanks Mark, for breaking the ice. I'm here to tell you the empty nest is a wonderful thing. I love it when Toby comes home for a break and usually wish he would stay a little longer, but not too much longer - and I know the feeling is mutual. Now if he would just take all of his stuff with him, we'd be in great shape.
Sounds like the kids are doing great. I know the grandparents enjoy seeing their games, too.

Dear Cousins, after letting Josh stay on here for twenty minutes typing to his cousins along came big brother who disconnects before we can send it to the blog. Oh well, c'est la vie. Of course I can't even remember what I wrote an hour ago. I guess they don't call me Dr. Alzheimer's for no reason. Anyway from us Midwesterners the only thing that could be any better than beating the Yankees is to thump the Mets in NLCS. Praise God, a world series with no New Yorkers:)!! I need to ditto on this is a great idea. It's about time the Sirois Clan enters the 21st Century. I do have to admit tho that I'm one of the worst at checking my mail regularly. If old cousin Betsy doesn't get a few responses tho she said she was going to change the name to the Paradis/St. John News:) Just kidding. Well, Josh was all excited about telling u that he is 8 and wants to know if he has any cousins that are 8 he can talk to. He's a little too smart for his own good. He's a green belt now in Tae Kwon Do and is just finishing up soccer and would like u to know that his team is defeated, no that is not a misprint, he says it is the opposite of undefeated, so his is defeated 0 and something. Rachel has just finished her freshmen year of volleyball as a starter on the JV team. This weekend is her last band competition and only 25 miles away, which after going to Arkansas last weekend will be a blessing. That place freaks me out just knowing there could be Clintons within a few hundred miles:))) Well, cousin Nicholas is in some deep poo with his cousin Bernie for not telling him he was getting married either. Josh said, "Thanks for inviting us to your flippin' wedding. Gosh!!" Matt is about 5'7" and 150# and is in the 6th grade - we're thinkin' he's going to be gianormous. He led the See You at The Pole Rally a few weeks ago at his school. It was pretty cool, it's the one day they set aside to let the kids pray at their school around the flag pole. He played a little football this fall, but says he's going back to soccer goalie next year?? Taylor is now a junior and is looking forward to being captain of the basketball team. He's just reached 6'5" with his shoes on, which means he's really 6'4", but don't tell him that. He's able to dunk the ball pretty easy now - if he could only palm the ball it would be easier! He plays on Team Missouri in the summer which keeps us going from Indiana to Texas to Kansas to Chicago. I do promise to call Robbie next time we go that way. Sorry:) He's trying to figure out where he wants to go in two years - it's been a fun process, but takes entirely too much time to mess with so that's mostly become Dad's job. We stay entirely too busy all the time between the practice and the kids, but that's life in the big city I guess. Is anyone going to vacation in Maine next summer? I haven't heard when our 25th is being scheduled for, But it would be fun to try and hook-up with as many Frenchmen as possible. Oh yeah, I forgot yun's all live thar in Maine already:) I've about reached my limit for pecking on this keyboard, but I think Josh will be back on here again real soon, when he finds out all his hard work was lost in cyberspace. Remember...Root, root root for the Cardinals. If they don't win it's a shame, for it's one, two, three strikes you're out at the old ball game! Lots of love and God Bless Bernie
Hey Betsy,
I LOVE this idea of keeping in touch with everyone. Sorry I didn't know about it. I just found out. Rick and I have been busy as we're moving to Alabama. Well, actually, he's already there and I've moved in with mom and dad until mid January. Craig is a freshman at the University of Maine and I'm having a hard time adjusting to life without him. Being so far away from him and Jason is going to be very difficult, but life goes on and Rick's been great about letting me "ease myself" into it. Mom plans on staying with us through the winter months, which I pointed out to her amount to about 6!!!. Whether Dad comes for that length of time is anyone's guess....haha!! Mom and I just returned from a 10 day trip to move everything into our new home. Rick and the 2 cats (Rosie and Jinx) are all settled in. Rick will be back for a week at Thanksgiving and another week at Christmas!! I've been busy with the packing and moving. I'm also still working at Talbots (come and see me sometime). I haven't had a chance to see anyone. Spoke with Heidi, briefly, about a month ago. I hope to have lunch with her in the near future. Also, spoke with Terry and Aunt Charlene a couple of times. We're SURPRISING mom with a trip to Boston for her 70th birthday. It's a little scary surprising "Aunt Verle" because you never know what the reaction will be...haha!! I'm looking forward to it and she'll be so surprised when we meet Terry and Aunt Charlene at the Bus Station in Portland. She doesn't have a clue!!! Craig is enjoying life at Maine and working at Abercrombie and Fitch in the mall. Jason is working at the YMCA and still applying for teaching positions in the area. He's also the JV basketball and baseball coach at Old Town. Dad said it was so nice to see you at the football game. I hope to see you soon. I'll send you my new email address when I'm in Alabama but I'll continue to write from dad's computer. If he were to leave any comments, it would take him all night to type it out!!!I agree with Dana, I'm sure I'll need Craig's help with any technical stuff I may need to do. Hi to everyone!! It's so fun to read all the comments. Thinking of you all!!! With love, Sheila
Sheila, John said you were moving again. I figured you would be, but have been so out of touch that I hadn't heard where. We definitely need to get together before you go. I'll stop by your folks on my way home from work one night. The day I saw Frank he had taken Craig and Jason out for lunch. I think it's great that they have such a good relationship.
All these darn kids just keep growing up and we keep growing older (sigh). I think about when I was in college, my folks sure seemed a lot more mature and adult like than I feel now, but I'm sure they must have had the same feelings that we do. Talk to you soon.
Love, Bets
This was a great idea Betsy; not only can I follow what's going on with the family, but I have a friendly distraction from all of the crazyness of college.
That was a fun weekend a few weeks back durring Nick's wedding. I do like watching the Football and I'm not gonna lie, bean suppers are where it's at.
To cousin Bernie:
Congratulations to the Cards on a well played. While the Tigers had my support (I think it has something to do with living closer to Detroit than most Detroiters) I concede that St. Louis played well.
Peace,
Mike
