My Life as a Slug

Hi all
I started this post several weeks ago and it was about how rainy it had been. I think all that rain turned me into a slug and I have been really lazy about getting this done and out. I've scanned a new batch of slides, though none that are too exciting. I guess I need to go through the photos next and get started on those. Here are a couple of the new ones:

Mom and Aunt Phoebe with little brother Kenny

I've always liked this one of Mom and her two little brothers

I ran into Uncle Frank and Sheila at the grocery store last night. It was nice to see them and I was surprised to see Sheila, since she moved earlier in the year, but she's back home for the summer, so I hope to see more of her while she is here. We spent a few (?) minutes talking while Frank went around picking up things in the store. I think he was surprised that every time he came to look for her, we were still in the same spot (but he shouldn't have been.) It turns out that Craig and Toby were involved in the same theater production this spring, Craig as an actor and Toby on crew, and they didn't know who each other were. I think we need a family reunion!
I'm afraid I don't have an update on Heidi (that slug thing, again) but perhaps someone else can fill us in.
Paul and I are looking forward to a couple of weeks of vacation at the end of June. The details aren't final yet, but it looks like we'll be driving out to Illinois to see Rob and Barb and family - can't wait to see that Benjamin - and up to northern Wisconsin to spend a couple of days with some friends from Hampden who will be staying at a cottage there. I'm hoping to fit in a visit with the Toronto Sirois', but we'll see. It's now possible to take a train into the city from Rob and Barb's town, and I would like to do that. I haven't been to Chicago for any length of time since they got married, and I was only 13 so didn't really appreciate it. Since my annual NYC trip has been cancelled for this year, that might be a nice substitute. I'd also like to get to Six Flags/Great America for a day. I'm anxious to get away and be on the road doing something different.

You may already know or may have figured it out, but I didn't get selected for the job at Old Town. I was a little disappointed, but also happy to stay right where I am. I've got so many things I want to get done in Belfast and there is never enough time.

Speaking of work, lunch time is over, so I'd better get back to it. I hope the slug period is over for now and I'll be better about making regular posts. If anyone has any pics that are digital that you would like me to share, send them to me and I'll post them for you.
Here's a more recent image from Terry and Mark's wedding. It includes Terry and Sheila and Paul's sister Michelle and half of Jen. I know the day was May 9, because that was also Mom and Dad's anniversary, but for year I'd have to guess '82? or 83?

That's it for now.

Hi everyone,

Sorry to be so long without a post - Hope it gave some of you time to catch up. I've been busy, busy, busy with work and museum and concerts and who knows what else. I'll try to catch up a little bit tonight but have to get up early tomorrow to head to Auburn for a meeting so it won't be too long.

I went to Pat's tonight and saw cousins Bernie, Kathy and Gary and Aunts RaeAnn, and Connie and Uncles Ed and Kenny plus two of Gary's boys and their families. There were also a bunch of Bernies friends from high school there, most of whom have older siblings that I went to school with. I assume that most of you know that Heidi has been in the hospital and has breast cancer which has spread to the bone. We didn't talk about it too much tonight, so I don't feel like I know enough to fill you in, but I hope Bernie will get a chance to do that when he gets home. She is home from the hospital now and RaeAnn will be staying with her and Dennis for awhile, so I'll see if I can get some updates on that for you in a day or two.
Here's a pic of Heidi, Cowboy Bernie, Kathy and Julie. Sorry it's so blurry, but you get the idea. If I recall correctly, they were all terrors except that sweet little Julie. :-)

I had another job interview today, this time for director of the Old Town Public Library. Our cousin (2nd), Valerie King Osborne has been in the position for 25 years and was selected for the other job I applied for a few weeks ago. I think it went pretty well and should hear one way or the other really soon. I'll keep you posted.
There's lots to talk about, but I'm going to save it for another day, and hit the hay. I hope you all are enjoying spring and will get a chance to let the rest of us know what you are doing these days.

Love, Betsy
